Spent the last week visiting extended family in Mexico, which was nice; they only live a few hours away from me, but I've been wary about crossing the border recently with everything going on -- it was fine this time, but the wait at the bridge coming back was needlessly long; they'd blocked off one or two of the lanes on the bridge with barbed wire on portable gates. I don't know if it's that CBP agents from the crossing got pulled off to go hunt down gardeners & housekeepers elsewhere & they needed to reduce the lanes, or if customs just want to look even more like enormous dicks. Who knows.

That aside, the trip was nice. Even got to see one of my aunts who lives in the U.S, who I hadn't seen in twelve years, since my cousin got married, as she had an overlapping visit. Spent the entire week being treated to my favorite area restaurants, and there was a family get-together Friday night with weather nice enough to hold it outside.

I missed one of my usual bookstores (the UANL main bookstore), but hit up the Gandhi location we always go to and a new, teeny-tiny bookshop in a mall near my aunt's house whose name I don't remember.

I'm planning on posting my progress through Victober on here next month; really excited to actually participate online this year, since previous years I haven't tracked my reading for it -- or chatted with other participants -- at all.

Well, nothing is sure yet, but there might finally be some forward movement on getting a diagnosis for my autoimmune issues! Looking for a new rheum for a second opinion, since my current one has stalled, but a couple of things popped up in my most recent labwork which might help lead to a diagnosis :D

Otherwise, I've just been feeling a lot of fatigue and also been fairly busy writing/doing IRL things, so I haven't been on much. Hope you all are doing well!!

Still having some health issues on top of the regular (hopefully I'll be well soon, though!), but also my roommate's mother has unexpectedly moved in with us, indefinitely. Which is fine! But has kept us all very busy, so I'm still mostly just not online. And tired. I am so, so tired. This year is just wild! XD

So, this summer continues with unrelenting health issues, but, oh well. The hurricane turned and gave us a miss, though we're getting a few showers here and there, which is great for the yard. Starting writing on a secret project that I'm having a lot of fun planning :)

Apologies for the post spam, but I have to complain, because it is May the 9th and today we're hitting 109f, with a heat index of 119. This year is going to *suck*.

Also, going to get my roommate to start hurricane/storm season prep early, because fuck.

Re-aggravated my shoulder strain by sleeping wrong and stretching too much; plus, trying to baby it, along with the heat wave, has really aggravated the regular chronic pain/fatigue, so I'll probably continue to be scarce around here for a bit while I try to really rest and avoid too much typing.
